Basketball Cup Final
Basketball Cup Final

One of the showpiece events in the basketball calendar is returning to The NIA on Sunday 18 January 2009 as the BBL Cup Final is contested between two of the country’s top teams.

It is the seventh year in a row that the game has been played at the NIA and the venue, which is now synonymous with the biggest games in British hoops, has produced some classic finals including the most recent 69-66 win for the Marshall MK Lions over the Newcastle Eagles in January 2008.

Cup Final Day is one of the most eagerly-anticipated during the BBL season as some of the stars of the British game lay it all on the line in pursuit of this coveted piece of silverware in the illustrious surroundings of Birmingham’s NIA.

The main event will be accompanied by the 2009 Molten Dunk Contest - one of the most prestigious individual accolades for the league’s highest-flyers – as well as the breathtaking ‘Crazy Dunkers’, who are flying in from France especially to WOW fans at the BBL Cup Final with their acrobatic dunking display.

As a precursor to the big game, the crucial Midlands derby between the Worcester Wolves and the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders will also be played; and interspersing all of this are performances from the BBL Babes and mascots.
