Streetlight Manifesto
Streetlight Manifesto

Not too long ago, sometime in the last five years, seven individuals of the musical variety came together to form the group that is now known as Streetlight Manifesto. Many tours were toured, a few records were recorded and hilarity and rock ensued (and continues to ensue). Since, as someone smarter than the band has previously stated, talking about music is like dancing about architecture, to spare you the excess and hollow superlatives of the typical rock band bio and go straight to the facts.

Streetlight Manifesto are a band similar to and yet different from most other touring bands on the scene today. They have no outside management, and therefore their success is so much sweeter as a band doing it themselves. They support file sharing for the most part, and welcome the inevitable demise of the current system behind the music industry. They tend to shy away from interviews because they are musicians. They make music, and have very little to say about it as it's all there in the songs, and in the live shows. Musicians talking about their music seems kind of silly to them. They are also a lot more concerned with the music than with fashion or which celebrities we know (practically none, for the record). Nevertheless they are occasionally cornered into doing an interview, which, upon reading, will embarrass the band for all the nonsensical things they've said on the spot.

In a nut shell Streetlight Manifesto are a band all about the music, and this is apparent, their unique blend of ska-punk-hardcore is on a level high above the rest. Dedicated to the fans they tour their asses off. Streetlight really happens onstage, so bringing the live show to as many places as possible, is paramount to their existence.

Almost everything having to do with Streetlight comes from the within a small musical family, from the merch designs to the recording of the records, to the booking of the tours. So far, despite numerous hiccups, the band feel like they have created something to be proud of and know how lucky they are to have amassed the loyal and energetic fanbase that they are proud to call their own.
